Is the event age restricted?
It is restricted as far as the game’s age restriction. That is, in Australia, the game is Mature 15 rated, so this is a 15+ event.
No there is not. Nvidia and Gigabyte are providing all tournament elements for free!

Are flights and accommodation paid for?
No they are not. Nvidia and Gigabyte are providing all elements for free, and a significant prize in excess of $12,000 – costs to get your team to the event are not covered.

What exactly are the prizes?
The Gigabyte Open Tournament will have a prize pool of $750, comprising:
1st $500
2nd $250
The Nvidia Gear Up For Battle Tournament will have a prize pool of $12,000, comprising:
1st $5,000
2nd $2,500
3rd $1,500
4th $1,000
5th – 8th $500 each
These prizes for the entire team, and are in Australian dollars (AUD). They will be paid by wire transfer following completion of the tournament.

What time of day will the matches be played for the online qualifiers?
The online matches will be played between the hours of 8pm and 11pm AEST pending team availability. Typically the matches will be at 8pm and 9pm, and pending the schedule, yes, you may have to play 2 matches in one night, or over two nights.

Are International Players allowed?
As long as they adhere to the rules (in respect to excessive in game ping in particular), then yes, international players and teams are allowed.

Can we change our registered team?
You may change your registered team by emailing admin@gearupforbattle.com until the tournament preliminary rounds begin. Following this point, you will have to utilise a substitution as explained below. You may appeal to the Gear Up for Battle Administration in the event you have extreme circumstances – however, all changes are at the discretion of the admin team.

One of our players may be unavailable throughout the online qualifiers – can we sub in a player to cover for him?
Yes you can. We have allowed for a single sub player – a squad of 6 to be used. If you have not registered a 6th player, then please forward this player’s details to admin@gearupforbattle.com. It is up to your team to nominate your LAN team, but if you qualify, once this team is nominated, it can not be changed unless there are extreme circumstances to allow it.

What Anti-Cheat will be used?
Just like all other competitions preceding it, Punkbuster will be the nominated Anti-Cheat along with strict policing of the game play via demos.

I’m banned on CyberGamer/PBBans/Punkbuster – can I still play?
All local and widely available ban lists will be referred to for player eligibility. Thus, if you are banned on these sites, then yes, you are banned for this tournament. This applies for match bans greater than 3 months that were issued for genuine hack reasons (i.e. config bans or lesser offences will receive dispensation for this event).
LAN Finals Information

Can I take my Monitor and peripherals to the LAN finals?
In order to create an even playing field monitors will not be allowed to be replaced at the finals event. You are welcome to bring your own peripherals and drivers.

Can I use my own game config?
Yes. This will be checked for wait binds (except for weapnext; wait[x]; weapnext) and vstr binds, so will only be allowed on the condition it is a ‘clean’ configuration.
